Blogging Guidelines

NOTE: The following rules apply to those blogging on the “tellpeoria.com” domain name. Any Peoria-area blogger or Website owner is welcome to sign up as a TellPeoria publisher and print our ads on his or her site.

1. TellPeoria is based in Peoria, but we seek to serve all communities and neighborhoods in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Fulton, Marshall and Stark counties.

2. This is a community-based citizen journalism site. It’s not a place to blog about your children, your pets or your boss. We want you to tell us the news in your community. This can include press releases and announcements from your community, or it can be advocacy journalism. You can attempt objective journalism. Your blog can include link aggregation, but not every post should be a collection of links.

3. We do not expect TellPeoria member bloggers to practice the standard objective model of journalism. Traditionally, bloggers have opinions and they express them. But TellPeoria member bloggers should try to be fair, shy away from name calling and try to avoid libel. Also, please avoid using copyright material. Fair use rules do apply.

4. TellPeoria member bloggers own their own words and their own blogs. But we will occasionally visit your site, and remind members if they are delving too far away from citizen journalism. TellPeoria member bloggers are responsible for their content and will be held responsible for obeying the law regarding libel and other matters that arise from their work.

5. No one can be a TellPeoria member blogger without also enrolling as a TellPeoria ad publisher and publishing a column of text or image ads, at minimum, on their site. The ad publishing terms of service must be followed as close to the letter and spirit of the terms as possible.

6. One of the few requirements we have is that bloggers using the TellPeoria domain insert ad code into their theme within 72 hours after they create their blog. If you have any problems doing this contact us.

7. If you are running TELLPEORIA ads, place the following StatCounter code in your sidebar or your footer. It allows us to measure the number of visitors and pageviews seen across the network:
