If you have male dogs and a central air unit in your yard, install a barrier 18″ from the A/C unit. Male dog urine will destroy the silver metal fins on the unit prematurely and cause the unit to fail earlier than it should. The ammonia in the urine causes the fins to rot, turn a chalky color and degrade. So, keep your dogs away from the units or build a slotted, vented, non-solid barrier 18″ from the unit. Also, in the winter, NEVER wrap your A/C units with plastic. This will lead to moisture and condensation, which will rust the units out early. I place a raised board on top of the unit with a brick on top. This allows air flow through the unit and keeps the board in place. Talk to you when I can.
