We’re now even more Google friendly

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Search Engine Friendly URLs are now enabled for TellPeoria Business Directory listings. This means that when Google spiders its way though TellPeoria listings, it will have an easier time deciding YOUR directory listing is it’s own separate Website. Be sure to take advantage of your available keywords to help search engines decide what your site is all about. This is automatic, and requires no action by users.

Coming up: Google Analytics.

Ten reasons why TellPeoria Ads are better than Google Adsense

Monday, December 7th, 2009

1. Google is geographically challenged: People in Peoria, AZ, are not going to walk into your store store in Peoria, IL. TellPeoria sells ads to local businesses and organizations that run on local blogs and Web sites.

2. Google keeps secrets: You need an advanced degree in mathematics to figure out how much Google charges their clients to put ads on YOUR site. TellPeoria has a rate card that you can see.

3. Google is a jealous mistress: Google will lower the amount you make per click if you run text ads from competitors. TellPeoria encourages you to use other ad networks. Anything that brings in revenue is fine by us.

4. Google is a control freak: Google terms of service prevent you from doing anything that changed how ads are delivered to your site. TellPeoria offers several different ways to generate ad code, and you are free to experiment to show the ads the way you want.

5. Google procrastinates: Google won’t even think of cutting a check until you’ve earned $100. If you hit that threshold in January, they decide in February that they owe you a check and then they give themselves almost the entire month of March to send you a check. TellPeoria will deposit cash to your PayPal account or cut you a check after you earn $25. And we pay our bills weekly, if not sooner.

6. Google is cheap: Sure some people make a bundle from Google Ads. TellPeoria realizes that YOU are probably not one of them. That’s why our ad publishers earn 75 percent of all revenue generated from our ads.

7. Google is a slut: Operate a porn site? Does your site consist of nothing but posts scraped from other bloggers? Google has no problem putting clients ads on these sites. TellPeoria targets citizen journalists, bloggers and legitimate Web sites. No porn. No scrapers.

8. Google’s rate structure sucks: Google pays its publishers by the click. That’s OK for text link ads, but if you run banner ads, advertisers benefit when your readers look at these ads, whether or not they click on the ads or not. TellPeoria uses pay-per-click on text ads and pay-per-1000-pageviews for graphic banner ads.

9. Google keywords do not make sense: If you write a post about restaurants, you’ll get Google ads about restaurants that mean nothing to your central Illinois readers. TellPeoria realizes people eat at restaurants even if they aren’t reading a blog post about restaurants.

10. Google says it’s ‘not evil.’ TellPeoria recognizes a marketing slogan when we see one.
